Storms

Wow, what a night!!!  Lindsey and Andy had us over for dinner to celebrate his new job. Which is a wonderful thing!!  Just about the time we sat down to dinner, the tornado sirens started going off.  They are about a block or so from their house, so needless to say, it was loud and somewhat daunting.  We turned on the television and tried to get our dinner eaten.  Real quickly though, the kids began getting a little antsy, so I sat down in the floor with them and we held hands and prayed.  That always settles them down.  Thank you Jesus!!
After a while, they gave us the all clear, so we decided to go home, which is only a mile away. Wouldn’t you know it, just about the time we got half-way to the car it started pouring again. We left and I think the lightning went with us. The flashes were so huge and seemingly very close. A construction sign blew over into the street right in front of us, which I will admit, made us all jump. We made it home a little rattled but safe, and right as we entered our house, a transformer blew and we lost power. So there we were, soaking wet, standing in our entry way not being able to see anything.
I made it to the towels and we used our iphones as light to gather up flashlights. By this point the worst of the storm had passed us and other than some thunder, lightning, and rain, we were out of harms way. We sat in the living room with a weather station playing softly on one iphone and praise and worship playing on another.
The Lord always shows up and lets us know, He is still in control. When I turned on my phone to play some p&w music, I just pick the first song on the list and didn’t even pay any attention to the title. As it began to play, I knew what song it was and just kind of laughed, then I started it over and told the boys to pay attention to the words.
This is how it begins-
When the storm is raging all around me
You are the peace that calms my troubled sea
Isn’t that AWESOME!!
You know things like this happen all the time, we just have to stop and smile and thank Him as He reminds us that HE IS still in control, He is taking care of us.
I love it when HE so lovingly shows Himself to my kids!!
God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging. The LORD Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. Psalm 46:1-3,7
Believing you all have a wonderful Thursday!!
Counting it all Joy!!
Angel

I HATE storms. Yet, I am learning as an adult to not let the fear take control. There are teaching moments from the Lord in each storm that comes my way, if I will open myself to them.

So thankful you are all ok.

Happy Friday!
