Silent Tears

When we were at Silver Dollar City over the weekend, I was the self-appointed, designated babysitter/stuff holder while everyone was riding rides.  I would way rather spend my time with my sweet granddaughter than ride any ride!!  Anyway, the first ride we came to was a pretty scary roller coaster and everyone went to ride except Ella and I.  She was in a stroller and had her back to me so I couldn’t see her face as we walked away from them and went to sit on a bench.  I left her facing away so she could see the ride but after a minute or two asked her if she wanted to get out and sit on my lap.  She shook her head “Yes” so I turned her around only to see tears running down her face.  She wasn’t crying hard or anything, not even making noise, just tears running down her face.  I didn’t realize, in all the excitement for everyone to ride, and Ella and I to get where we could see, we had just walked away from everyone and she didn’t know her momma was leaving and didn’t get to say bye.  The sweet little thing didn’t make a peep, just sat there broken hearted.  I talked to her about it for a second, told her what momma was doing and then she was fine.  We walked down where she could see the ride better and she said, “My momma is gonna ride THAT!!  She’s going to freak out!”  She’s too funny.
Anyway, today it really got me thinking (AGAIN) how Jesus must feel when we walk away from Him.  Even for something little like Lindsey did from Ella.  She was only going to be gone a few minutes, it wasn’t a big deal, but to Ella it was huge.  Sometimes we take our eyes off Jesus just for a few minutes, or walk away really quickly to do something our way, not even realizing we didn’t talk to Him about it, just like Lindsey did.  I wonder if He sits beside God, like Ella was sitting beside me, with tears running down His face?  Broken hearted because we aren’t where He wants us to be, doing what He wants us to do, or maybe knowing that whatever it is we are doing could hurt us?
You know, it is amazing to me how He uses such little every day things and sometimes not so little things, to reign me in, to remind me of His love for me, to remind me to keep my eyes on Him at ALL times.  To remind me that it is ALWAYS better His way.
Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in Him.  Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong.  And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep His love is.  May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully.  Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.  Ephesians 3:17-19

Praying that I will not be the cause of tears on His face!!
Counting it all Joy!!

Bless her heart! Sooo glad you were able to calm her and make it all better!

I love how you taught us with this story! I pary the same as you...although I KNOW I have caused many tears to fall over the years I would pray that they become fewer and farther between as I grow in HIM!

Love you!
