Weekend Smiles

What a wonderful anniversary weekend!  We went to dinner Friday Night at a really nice restaurant, Michael Fusco’s Riverside Grill.  I love it, but it is way too expensive to enjoy very often, so we save it for special occasions.  We ate way too much and I will need to Shred twice a day to work it off.

We did decide to buy a new camera, so with any luck better pictures from me coming soon!!

Appetizer - Gingered Beef Tips with Sobe Noodles

My dinner - Grilled Salmon with Champagne Sauce and Wild Rice

Dan’s dinner - Stuffed Veal Chop with Linguini in a Tomato Mushroom Sauce

Dessert - we shared - Chocolate Truffle Cake with Vanilla Bean Ice Cream
and Strawberries and Cream.  I had my fork ready!!!
It’s always amazing to me that I have lived here all my life and never cease to find places that are somewhat close but I have never seen or heard of before.  There is a place like that which we recently heard about on Route 66, about an hour or so from here.  We have been wanting to visit and haven’t had the time to get there.  So we decided to ditch our plans of spending the Saturday alone and get the kids and take a small road trip.  They were surprised, they thought they would be spending the day fending for themselves.  We didn’t tell them where we were going, just that we wanted them to be with us.  So glad we did, we had so much fun.  It’s a place called Pop’s.  It’s just a convenient store/restaurant, but oh so cool!!  They have over 500 flavors of pop, bottled the old fashioned way.  Some of the flavors, like Dr. Pepper and Pepsi, are even the original recipe.
The boys sitting in front of Pop's.  As you can see, the whole inside of the store is lined with bottles of pop.

In front of the building there is a humongous pop bottle, at night they have it lit up!!

By the time we got seated at the restaurant and ordered, this is what Ella looked like, she just couldn’t take one more minute!!

Just down the highway a ways, was The Round Barn.  We had never seen it before either.  You have to pull off the highway, they have a very small paved area, to take pictures.  The funny thing was, there was a wedding going on.  I couldn’t believe it.  I would have never thought to get married in “The Round Barn”.

That’s part of the wedding party in front!!

This morning when Ella, who is 3, got here, I was looking at the pictures, and she said, “I wish I got married in the Big Round Farm!!”  She cracks me up!!
Needless to say, we had a fabulous weekend even though we axed some of our anniversary plans.  We got the best of both worlds, Friday Night just me and my wonderful hubby, then Saturday and Sunday, Dan AND my kiddos just hanging out and enjoying each other!  Such JOY!!
Believing you all had fabulous a weekend filled with the things that make you smile!!
Counting it all Joy!!

So glad that you all had a great Anniversary weekend. Sometimes the best plans are the ones that get made completely last minute. This place reminds me of the old Pops place where you could hand select your own bottled soda and take it home. Once you finished you brought the bottles back and could get more soda.
