Opportunities

In the first two days of our 30 day challenge with the boys, they have -
put stray buggies up at Lowes
washed and cleaned out two cars, their brothers and mine
helped a neighbor get leaves out of their flower bed
Isaac let Adam off kitchen duty last night and did his part too
Adam wanted to make cookies to bless the family but remembered I am trying to stay away from sweets right now so he decided to bless me, by not making them
It’s absolutely wonderful to watch them as they become aware of opportunities that they maybe wouldn’t have seen otherwise, to be constantly thinking of something to bless someone else, for them to realize that even when we don’t leave our cul-de-sac, there are still blessings to be handed out.  I am so excited and anxious to see how God works in them and through them.
Even children are known by the way they act, whether their conduct is pure and right.  Proverbs 20:11
We have to teach our children to serve, unfortunately, most aren’t born with it, and most won’t turn 18 and randomly have a servants heart.  We have to teach our children that they aren’t first always, that being comfortable all the time isn’t what life is all about.  We live in such a “ME” world.  Everything seems to be about what “I” want, what “I” think, what makes “me” feel good.  I believe if we are going to survive on this earth until Jesus returns, that has to change.  I believe it can, - One kid at a time.
Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not turn from it.  Proverbs 22:6
How do we do this, by living it ourselves!!!  We can’t just tell them “this is what we are supposed to do”.  Our kids do what we do, they learn from our example way more than our words.
If anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.  Matthew 18:6
How will they know to stop, if they see us walk on by?
Believe you will all have a joyful week filled with Jesus opportunities!!
Counting it all Joy!!

Good for them. Does the the mommy heart good when our kids are willing to serve each other.

I love this idea. Thanks for sharing how it is going. It serves as inspiration for us all.

I agree with you, we have to be examples. So much better than just preaching! Have a great day.

When I was a child, I watched my daddy live his servanthood. He is how I learned, what I like to call... "hugeness of heart." You're doing a good job by encouraging your kids to be proactive about their love. It will stay with them for always.

Thanks for stopping by the blog. Blessings and peace to you this week~elaine

It's always about actions because it's true, they speak louder than the words! That's awesome. God bless.

Your blog is adorable! Thanks for your sweet comments on mine.

And I so agree about teaching kids to be others-centered. It's so much better for them if we start early!

Very good. Like the use of Proverbs - I write alot on this verse.

Can't remember how I first found your blog, but I have visited a couple of times and like it.

If you get a chance, please visit Family Fountain (and maybe you already have).
